Poetry Workshops in Paris

Paris has been a special place for me since I first came to the City of Lights as a graduate student in summer of 2015. With its abundance of museums, bistros, parks, gardens & colorful boulevards, Paris serves as the perfect landscape for writers seeking to elevate their work.

This two-week writing intensive workshop will focus on place & travel & how these themes shape our identities as writers. Students will participate in eight, 3-hour morning sessions in our classroom nestled inside of Luxembourg Gardens.

Eligibility & cost:

The workshops are open to writers at any point in their careers. Only six slots are available each summer so it’s important to reserve your spot early.

The total cost is $1,200.00 per participant with a non-refundable deposit of $500 due before November 30. The remaining balance is due by March of the following year. Payment plan options are available upon request.

America is my country, and Paris is my hometown.

-Welcoming dinner at Les Philosophes in Le Marais.

-Paris metro pass (one-week).

-Half-day tour of Paris the Sunday after arrival.

-Ticket to the Louvre Museum.

-Craft talk from guest author (TBA)

-Printing costs while in Paris.

-In addition to serving as your trip advisor for the duration of the trip, I am more than happy to help in the planning stages, as well as upon your arrival & stay in Paris.

The very idea of workshopping in a city like Paris is wonderful because it gives you an opportunity to share and reflect with others on the stimulating location, and you also have the flexibility to traverse and learn about the city on your own time and in your own way after the workshop is over…I am definitely considering retaking this workshop because of the vital experience it brought me as a traveler and as a poet.

Joe H., 2023-24 Participant

Workshopping poetry for two weeks in Paris is a dream come true and proved to be the most productive two weeks of my year. I'm extremely proud of the work I produced and the revisions I'll be making in coming days. I have six pieces that will be ready for submissions soon, and though it wasn't even a goal at the outset of this pursuit, I also intend to begin working toward my first chapbook. Adam's feedback was invaluable to my growth as a poet, and I'm already making plans to return next summer!
